I really liked this weeks readings. I thought the comic strip was very clever and informative. The F
acebook article was the same. I agree with both . I think that being able to send a text, comment, email, whatever it may be by using technology one can easily become almost disconnected and act in ways that they normally wouldn't in person. The whole F
acebook thing is such a
dilemma. Currently I don't have a F
acebook and to be honest, I never thought to even get one. I thought it was so crazy that people would spend hours of their day checking and pretty much "stalking" others one F
acebook. However now F
acebook has become such a mainstream thing that even professors are requiring to use it. It doesn't stop there, work,
church and other
activities all use F
acebook as their main stream of connection with everyone.
I can see why. As I am nearing
graduation I see the benefit of being able to easily stay in contact,
especially since many of those people you might see occasionally, or even never.
At the same time my strong
opinions of F
acebook stand. I think it is up to the individual to censor whatever they choose to spend there time doing. I think that someone can have F
acebook and still keep real human interaction and
remember civility. It's when people start asking
each other out over this that I begin to worry! The
dilemma still thrives!
